To me, that would seem like an attempt to appeal to an audience that doesn’t want to read comics, but instead would like to play games. I don’t want to play games. I want to read comics, and the Comixology app works really well for me in that regard. If you listen to the way DC is talking about marketing these days, they figure that e-comics will mostly appeal to the older readers who, like me, ran out of room in their basements, but who have plenty of room on their iPads. As a representative of that generation, I think DC and Comixology are doing it just right.
OFFER GAMES
If you want to really hit it big, start offering online games on your site like Zynga; but ones that pertain to the comics books you are selling like Batman, Spiderman, etc. Sell virtual goods or credits to play the games. Then link those games to Facebooks.
Do Vertigo comics not show up in the DC Comics app? Because I don’t see any of these issues at all. (Windows Phone version.)
I can’t find either Animalman or Lucifer in the iPad app store – yet they’re in the sale ad…
awesome!, will American Vampire be coming out more frequently now?
