Price Clarification for International Downloads

Many users have noticed that prices on our iPhone and iPad apps have changed outside the US. Apple changed international price equivalents yesterday, so I thought an explanation was needed.

Here’s how it works: we pick a Tier price for a comic, and Apple chooses the price for all locations. Currently, Tier 1 is US$0.99, for instance.

Here’s a table to show how a US$1.99 price is reflected in other countries:

Prices in the UK have gone up, while prices in Australia have come down. UK users have, for some time, actually been getting quite a deal, but at the moment the prices have raised beyond today’s exchange rate. It seems unfair to us as well, but there’s no action we can take to change it.

Note that our Web Store and Android app continue to be in US$ only, so may be better for you, depending on your exchange rate and bank fees for buying in US$ (please check before making purchases!). The convenience of purchasing in-app is pretty indisputable, but we have some nice options on the Web, like “Add All to Cart”, as well.
