This past weekend the comiXology crew took to the streets for The Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival in Williamsburg to get the low down on all things indie. The Saturday kick-off celebration packed two floors with artists, fans and publishers alike featuring everything
from the underground comics of yesteryear to the latest in what’s new on the web! With a slate of programming available across the street at The Union Pool Bar and an ongoing film festival still running for the next few days The 2011 Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival proved that the indie spirit of comic books is alive, well, and bigger than ever!
Publishers Top Shelf Productions, AdHouse Books, Act-i-Vate Web Comics and more were on-hand to bring the industry’s top independent creators to fans of all ages. The day proved to be one full of
fun, insight, and that zany creative spirit the indie artists of brooklyn are known for, and while the exhibitor hall may be closed there is still plenty of cool affiliated satellite programming lined up over the course of the week. For a full list of what went down and what is yet to come check out the official site (http://www.comicsandgraphicsfest.com) as the festival has only just begun. An ongoing project by Desert Island Bookstore, Picturebox Inc. and Bill Kartalopoulos The Brooklyn Comics and Graphics festival is a one of a kind event showcasing some of the best talent the industry has to offer in graphic design, film and of course comics!
