Beta invite: The new comiXology webstore

To our comiXologists,

We need your feedback! Check out the public beta of our new digital comics webstore and tell us what you think!

Yep – even though in the past three months we’ve launched more than 140 retailer storefronts, upgraded to a whole new 3.0 Comics by comiXology app on iOS, been preloaded on the Kindle Fire and been a Top Grossing iPad app every week the last few months (and #11 Top Grossing overall for 2011!) – we are not resting on our laurels!

The new webstore sports many eagerly-awaited features, including:

  • HTML-based shopping
  • Simple link sharing
  • Direct linking to all comics
  • Gifting a cart (not live yet, but coming!)
  • Yes, you can use the site on your iPad!

While we like the idea of moving away from Flash entirely, we honestly have not found a way that can handle our Guided View technology with the level of quality that you’ve come to expect.

That said, if you are on a mobile device that doesn’t support Flash, like the iPad, don’t fret! Purchases made on the webstore will be available on your mobile apps. You can download them for iOS, Android and, of course, find us on Amazon’s Kindle Fire.

    Regards comics bought on the web store being readable on mobile apps, does that include comics not available for sale in the apps?

    But not available for purchases that give credit to our local store. Why don’t you guys just let us pick a store in our account and have all our purchases go through them, rather than this hybrid crippled model?
